No doubt, you are trying to use Facebook as a way to get word out about something in your business, build a ‘community online’ and ultimately promote it. It might be an event or a promotion you have running that you would like to let your fans know about, or just to stay in touch from day-to-day.
Well, to put it simply – don’t bother until you read this, you may save yourself a whole lot of time and effort!
Posting to your Facebook Page works best when it is reaching a significant audience. You can’t expect your post about a last-minute deal to have any impact when you only have 25 fans on your page… Did you know that only about 18% of your fans see your posts anyway?
BUT before you start thinking, “Well then – what is even the point of using Facebook?” – we’re here to help you.
In this young stage of your Facebook Page, especially if you have less than 30 fans or even up to 100 – you need to simply focus on growing your fanbase. But, HOW?
Take a look at each of the points and cross off the ones you have done:
- Have you invited your personal friends to like your page?
- Have you contacted people on your email list to let them know about your page?
- Are you posting regularly so your posts have a good chance of reaching your fans?
- Are you posting INTERESTING stuff that people are liking, commenting on and sharing?
Simply by doing at least the first 2 points above you will be off to a great headstart. Points 3 & 4 are a little trickier to achieve, especially number 4.
So here’s your big chance. Time to start using Facebook for what it really is – “Word of Mouth with a Megaphone”! Get your message heard by more people today. After all, this is the beauty of social media!
